A.T. STILL SCHOLARSHIP FUND
To become a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine requires four years of medical schooling. After graduation some students go on to specialty training. When adding up the tuition fees, books, food, housing, a student’s annual expenses are nearly $50,000! Multiple that times four and you can see to become a physician is an expensive journey. The OFCW A.T. Still Scholarship Fund provides scholarships to medical students enrolled at the Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences.
The OFCW and PNWU will join together to provide six $10,000 scholarships for the academic year of 2009-2010. Besides meeting the criteria for receiving a scholarship the student is required to set up their practice in Eastern Washington after full filling their residency program for a minimum of three years.
OFCW encourages all friends of Osteopathic medicine to make an annual gift to the A.T. Still Scholarship Fund or to give through the estate planning process. There are a variety of methods by which a gift can be made to the OFCW A.T. Still Scholarship Fund. Ask your Estate Planner or Attorney for the best way for you to include OFCW for a gift. There are several approved IRS ways gifts can be made such as Charitable Reminder Trusts, Charitable Lead Trusts, and highly appreciated securities. Larger gifts can be held in perpetuity with only the interest derived from the gift going to the A.T. Still Scholarship Fund. OFCW will honor all gifts given in the memory of a loved one.
